My diploma Tage der Kassiopeia (Days of Cassiopeia) represents various texts, illustrations, and artifacts that are telling the story of 14 people pioneering an exoplanet, dated 150 years in the future. The stories were written by friends and acquaintances after giving them a broad description of the universe that I had only created in my mind thus far. I visualized the narratives that I received with appropriate illustration styles and created this book. The book is divided into 14 chapters, one for each crew member. Each chapter contains three illustrated writings and at least one story per chapter deals with an item that the main character has a connection to. I reified the featured artifacts and brought them into a physical form. The materialization of these artifacts breaks the boundaries, the fourth wall, of my storytelling, adds a tangible dimension, and turns the book into a interactive scenery. My designs consist of: a T-shirt, a self-forged knife, a Flag, a drug, a self-casted bronze necklace, a cookie jar, protein bars, screen printed pages of a children's book, a leather jacket, a matchbox, a package with carrot seeds, a deck of cards, carved glasses made out of bone, and a written piece of music turned into a record. ︎
